Ah! New York Fashion Week. Every fashion lovers dream. Every year I put it on my calendar with a *prayer hand emoji* but somehow September just comes and goes while I’m busy in another place.
Not this year. My dream became a reality when I was invited to check out some emerging green designers at this year’s Nolcha Shows and since I would already be in town for the Global Exchange at Lincoln Center, the timing could not be more perfect.
And, because I couldn’t get enough, I’ll also be heading to Amsterdam Fashion Week and Berlin Fashion Week in search of the world’s most inspiring eco-fashion designers.
Check out a few of my favorites from #NYFW:
11AM RUNWAY SHOW: Ones to Watch featuring MINAN WONG
MINAN WONG creates natural and eco-friendly fibers that transform into clean, vibrant lines structured with feminine details and a sense of purpose in every piece. Items are made using eco-friendly elements like organic cotton, Tencel, recycled wool and recycled PET. All pieces are made in the US for fair wages and support the local economy.
5PM RUNWAY SHOW: Evening Collective featuring ACID NYC and Samantha Leibowitz
ACID NYC creates edgy fashion forward prints on wearable body conscious designs featuring natural silks and high performance fabrics. ACID NYC sources their materials in NY, LA, Korea and India; and produces the collection at family run Manhattan based factory Lily Fashion Inc.
Made in NYC, Samantha Leibowitz aims to provide the passionate, trendy fashion innovators of the world with classic and versatile garments, fusing both fit and function.
Here are a few other sustainable/ethical designers I’ll be checking out throughout the week:
Made in the UK, DELA ÉVA is a London based handbag brand influenced by a combination of something old inspired by the classic masterpieces from the past and something new inspired by the modern world of today.
